A 4-H Sewing workshop will be held on December 29, 2026 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Valparaiso Public Library. Snacks will be provided. You may come and make an elastic skirt or shorts. You will need to bring a sewing machine, nonrollable 1 inch elastic, material, matching thread, your sewing kit (pins, seam ripper, tape measure, etc). If you are making the skirt, you do not need a sewing pattern. If you choose to make the shorts/pants, it should be a simple foldover elastic band pattern. Please reach out if you have questions about selecting material or the pattern. You should have time to complete the project that day. The completed skirt or shorts/pants can be your completed first project for the fair or a practice run. You do not have to be enrolled in the project to attend. Come if you just want to give sewing a try! Please RSVP by December 21st to the superintendent.
