4-H STEM Engineering Opportunity (5th grade and up)

Consider taking the Model Bridge Project to have fun MAKING and then BREAKING a bridge and learning about ENGINEERING while you do it.

At the workshop we build the bridge so you are then “ready for fair.”

REQUIRED FOR WORKSHOP: Get a “bridge kit” at the 4-H Office and BRING IT to the workshop.  ALSO BRING the “Project Manual” which you get from your 4-H Leader.  (A 12”-long box is helpful to carry your bridge home.)  Workshop attendance is required for 5th-grade.

The workshop is Saturday, May 14 from 10 am-12 pm at Lela Hewlett’s house at 3058 S. Sturdy Rd. (1 mile south of the Valpo WalMart, at the corner with Meadow Glen Dr, just north of Division Rd).

At 11:30 ADVANCED bridge-building will be discussed.  Grades 5 & 6 are required to build the “kit bridge” but grades 7 – 12 can build “stronger” bridges.  At 11:30 we will discuss “stronger” bridge-designs.
