Annual Enrollment of 4-H Volunteers

  • September 30th: Your annual volunteer enrollment expires. You are no longer permitted to work with 4-H youth members.
  • October 1st: 4-H enrollment opens for the 2023-24 program year. You must complete your annual re-enrollment and training process in its entirety before participating as a 4-H volunteer for the 4-H program year.
  • October 31st: Target enrollment date for all adult 4-H volunteers.

The mission of the 4-H Youth Development Program is to provide real-life educational opportunities
that develop young people who positively impact their community and world. Extension personnel and
volunteer time and energy should be spent in positive educational programs that support these quality
experiences for children and youth.

Annual enrollment for members and volunteers opens via 4HOnline (http://v2.4honline.com/) on October 1st.

Target Enrollment Date for Adult Volunteers: We are asking that 4-H club leaders and project superintendents, as well as all other volunteers, strive to complete their annual enrollment process by October 31st . It is imperative that volunteers complete their annual screening process before they begin interacting with our youth members for the year. (Download a step-by-step guide to the 4HOnline enrollment process at https://bit.ly/4HEnrollmentResources.)

IMPORTANT– Your enrollment as a volunteer is not complete when you hit “SUBMIT”. You will see a “TRAINING” tab upon submitting enrollment. Click a title to begin the training process. It will include the following required training components totaling approximately one hour that can be completed all at one time or at different times. Indiana 4-H is an educational program, and it’s important that we adults also continue to educate ourselves and broaden our skills so that we are better prepared to work with youth.
1) Orientation to Indiana 4-H
2) Youth Protection
3) Cultural Awareness – this training will be completed by all 4-H volunteers and 4-H Extension staff members to help us all better understand how we can work together effectively in an increasingly diverse culture.

Reminders for completing the training and marking completion of those trainings:

  • Volunteers have to go through all the slides, answer all the questions and on certain trainings there is a button to take them back to 4-H Online that they have to click or it will not mark them complete.
  • If they click the X on any of them except the Welcome Video, it will not record them.
    • The Volunteer Orientation training has a button that says “Exit Course or Exit Quiz”.
      • New for 2024: When taking the quiz when they answer the question, they will need to select their answer and then click the “check mark” in the bottom right corner.
    • Youth Protection Training – this lesson was updated on Jan 31, 2023.
      • A few tips that can help the volunteers navigate the training:
        • Watch the video at the beginning of the training before clicking on “Continue” at the bottom of the screen.
        • Interactive activities are included. The volunteer will need to click on each of the questions or activities in order to proceed. The quiz questions for this training are built into the content.
        • Scroll down to find the “Continue” button. If a step has been missed, they will be directed back up to complete the missing step before continuing.
        • Upon taking the test, be sure to click continue once your receive your score, and then on the page where it says Congratulations! there is a button that says Exit Course to select. Then you can close the window.  DON’T close the window until after you have clicked all the prompts to exit. (see images below)

We thank you for investing your time in the Indiana 4-H Program!
